Homes along Swatara Creek Road were once plagued by frequent flooding. Londonderry Township utilized a FEMA grant to buy residents out of damaged properties and has since planted riparian buffers in place of the homes.
9 acres of buffers now line Swatara Creek Road thanks to many community volunteers and conservation partners.
All buffers have been grant funded, and many species will provide food for community visitors and wildlife, including: paw paws, elderberries, blue berries and more!
