In November 2023, the Scotty Scholars Fund was established to celebrate the life and legacy of Scotty Guinn Dilworth. Thanks to the generous contributions from Scotty’s loved ones and supporters of CCLC, we have been able to award ten Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (CBLP) Level 1 Scholarships.
As a pioneering landscape designer and small business owner in the field of conservation landscaping, Scotty often prioritized her work over workshops and chose her passion for the craft over a high salary. Despite this, she was consistently generous with her time, willingly showcasing her work and sharing her insights with CBLP trainees in the Richmond area when requested by CCLC.
The mission of the fund is to honor Scotty’s passion and legacy by supporting individuals who embody her values and contributions. We offer scholarships to a diverse range of people, including small business owners, career changers, women, mothers, students, apprentices, and non-profit organizations. This initiative aims to make a significant impact in the field of conservation landscaping and beyond, providing essential support to those who might otherwise face financial barriers to valuable educational and professional development opportunities.
It has been an honor to commemorate Scotty’s memory through this scholarship. She took great pride in mentoring both emerging and career-changing professionals, and we believe she would be proud of the individuals who have been selected to receive this scholarship bearing her name.
We invite you to contribute to the Scotty Scholars Fund today to honor her legacy and help shape the future of conservation landscaping.
