In Summer 2003, representatives of non-profit organizations, businesses, governmental agencies, and committed individuals from throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed came together to form the Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council (CCLC). This new organization was developed to promote the principles of conservation landscaping and encourage its proliferation throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed. CCLC set out to educate and support professionals to implement best practices that result in a healthier and more beautiful Chesapeake Bay.
CCLC leads the sustainable landscaping and maintenance training effort through working to achieve its vision and mission:
Vision: CCLC builds the capacity and network of landscape professionals to serve as stewards, educators, and ambassadors across the Chesapeake Bay watershed, ensuring ecological function, improving water quality, and enhancing biodiverse habitat.
Mission: CCLC educates and supports professionals to implement sustainable landscape and green infrastructure practices for a healthy and resilient Chesapeake Bay watershed.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
CCLC depends on generous financial support to continue to create a more sustainable and beautiful landscape
To celebrate its 20th year, CCLC is launching an anniversary fundraising campaign to raise funds to support its training and programming to increase our sustainable landscapes and create a more healthy and beautiful environment. These funds will help sustain the work that CCLC does. Please help us keep this good work going by offering your support through a donation or by considering a sustainable donation (an automated monthly donation). A donation of $20/month would help us to secure additional staff to expand our educational and training programs. With your help, CCLC will see another 20 years of a sustainable future!
CCLC Board to Match first $5,000 in donations!
The CCLC Board of Directors is very excited about this anniversary campaign. To show its support, the Board has donated matching funds to double the first $5,000 raised through this campaign.
Donations will support CCLC to:
- Provide expert, hands-on training to certify professionals in designing, installing, and maintaining sustainable landscapes
- Empower underserved communities through workforce development programing to support new sustainable green jobs
- Empowering landscape professionals through green infrastructure maintenance, riparian buffer, and living shoreline certificate courses
- Prepare young minds by providing high quality, age-appropriate training to students and entry-level workers
- Educate the public and professionals in conservation landscaping through the biennial Turning a New Leaf conference
- Create and share professional sustainable landscape and maintenance resources to support all members of the Chesapeake watershed to achieve healthy, beautiful landscapes
- Host field days and tours of green infrastructure and sustainable landscaping projects to share successes and lessons learned with the public
I support CCLC, and serve on its Board of Directors, because I strongly believe in the good work they do. CCLC really elevates important environmental sustainability issues and supports professionals to further landscape resilience. CCLC engages the public to look beyond traditional landscaping practices to explore opportunities to retain stormwater, provide benefits to local wildlife and pollinators, and create a healthier natural world. CCLC intentionally brings together a network of landscape professionals, budding landscapers, and other interested folks that may share and learn about new ways to create a more resilient environment. I love being a part of this wonderful, giving community and I hope that you will join me in supporting a great cause and an amazing organization!
